Ingredients
- 250 g frozen mixed berries
- 1 ripe banana
- 200 g Greek yoghurt
- 150 ml milk
- 1 tbsp honey, if needed
Method
Frozen fruit, not ice
Use the berries straight from the freezer and a very ripe banana. Frozen fruit chills and thickens at the same time, where ice cubes only dilute — this is the single thing that separates a good smoothie from a watery one.
Liquid at the bottom
Put the milk and yoghurt into the blender first, then the fruit on top. Blades need liquid around them to catch; frozen fruit loaded first just jams them.
Blend and taste
Blend until completely smooth, adding a splash more milk if it will not move. Taste before sweetening — a ripe banana usually makes the honey unnecessary.
Drink straight away
It separates within about 15 minutes, so pour and drink. If you are making it ahead, shake it hard before serving.
